What to Expect: Completeing Final Checks

The Complete Final Checks stage helps ensure all employment requirements are met before or shortly after your start date. Because Fearless supports a variety of projects—some with additional compliance or clearance needs—this step allows us to tailor the process to your specific role.

During this step, you’ll transition into onboarding with our People Solutions and Services (PSS) Team, who will serve as your primary point of contact and support.

After you return your signed offer letter, you’ll officially move into the onboarding process. A member of the People Solutions and Services team will reach out within two business days with a welcome message and next steps tailored to your role.

Depending on your offer, this step may include a background check or a clearance process.

For roles where a clearance is not required as a contingency of the offer, Fearless conducts a background check using our designated background check provider.

Here’s what to expect:

• You’ll receive an email from a member of the People Solutions and Services team with a reminder about your background check.
• You’ll also receive a separate email directly from the background check provider at the same email address you used during the recruitment process.
• You’ll be asked to enter personal information into the Checkr system to begin the process.

The average completion time for a standard background check is approximately three business days. However, timelines can vary depending on factors such as the number of states or counties you’ve lived in and their reporting requirements. In some cases, background checks may take longer—up to several weeks.

If additional information is needed, you’ll receive a notice from both the background check provider and a member of the People Solutions and Services team to guide you through next steps.

If a clearance is required as part of your offer, Fearless does not run a separate background check. Instead, you’ll receive instructions directly from your project team outlining what’s needed to begin the clearance process.

While this communication comes from the project team, you can always reach out to your main onboarding contact within the People Solutions and Services team if you have questions, need support, or would like an update on timing.

Not all clearances must be completed before your first day; this depends on the structure and requirements of the project. If a clearance must be fully completed prior to starting, a member of the People Solutions and Services team will contact you with details about your tentative start date.

Clearance timelines can vary widely. While many clearance processes average around three weeks, timelines may be impacted by factors such as government shutdowns, incomplete paperwork, additional clearance requirements, or requests for additional information.

If your clearance impacts your start date, you’ll receive weekly updates, including mid-week check-ins, so you’re never left wondering about next steps. The People Solutions and Services team works closely with your project team to monitor progress and share updates as soon as they’re available.
